Second-best year for VC investment and private equity exits across the region

Invest Europe, the association representing Europe’s private equity, venture capital and infrastructure sectors, as well as their investors, today published ‘Private Equity in CEE: Creating Value and Continued Growth’, an in-depth study of private equity’s role in innovation and economic development across Central and Eastern Europe.

In September 2020 the 9th edition of the PSIK SBA Program, which is led by PSIK Philanthropy Committee and Valores Foundation, has been launched based on the success of the eight previous editions. At the same time, the 8th edition has been completed.

Private equity firms invested in a record 464 companies in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in 2019, with investment increasing by 7% year-on-year to €2.95 billion, as the industry strengthened its commitment to the SMEs and start-ups that are fueling the region’s economic growth and innovation, according to Invest Europe data.

A meeting of the PSIK Social Business Accelerator program was held on March 3, 2020. the program is led by the PSIK Philanthropy Committee and the Valores Foundation – the first Polish venture philanthropy fund.

Two final closes from Innova Capital at €271 million and Value4Capital at €91 million; Cogito Partners reached the first closing for its debut fund at € 55 million, and Tar Heel raised €100 million for the third fund.  Another major announcement was just made by Avallon, which raised so far € 80.6 million for its third fund.

The PSIK Social Business Accelarator program is a mentoring program. So far, 67 social organizations and 52 PE / VC managers have participated in eight editions of the program. The Valores Foundation is Poland's first Venture Philanthropy fund. Valores Foundations has nine organizations in the portfolio so far. Four of them, who have already completed the program, have given support to over 2 million people.
