The Social Business Accelerator Program was launched by the Polish Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (PSIK) in 2011 with the goal to utilize the skills and know-how of the private equity/venture capital community to support innovative social organizations in Poland.

The SBA program was initially a joint program of PSIK and Ashoka (a global social organization supporting innovating social sector leaders). Since 2015, the SBA Program is led by the PSIK Philanthropy Committee and the Valores Foundation – the first Polish venture philanthropy fund. In September 2022, the 11th edition of the program was launched based on the success of the eight previous editions.

The aim of the program is to facilitate the transfer of commercial, financial and business development skills from private equity managers to social entrepreneurs in order to increase effectiveness of their organizations and the social impact of their work.

Within the framework of the program, the leader of a pre-selected social organization is paired with an experienced PE/VC professional who works as a pro-bono mentor to help address the most critical organizational and developmental challenges of the organization.

Since inception of the Program, 65 senior private equity professionals have provided pro-bono mentoring support to 83 social organizations in Poland.
