The EBRD (www.EBRD.com) is an international financial institution (Triple-A) which was established in 1991 to promote transition to the countries of the former Soviet Union and has expanded to cover 36 countries from central Europe to central Asia including Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Cyprus and Greece (the “Region”). Its mission is to develop open and sustainable market economies in countries committed to, and applying, democratic principles. It uses investment as a tool to further its mission without crowding out the private sector whilst promoting sound banking principles and environmentally and socially sound and sustainable development.

The Bank has a capital base of EUR 30 billion and has a cumulative business volume of EUR 95.3 billion as at the end of 2014. It is the largest single investor in the Region and mobilises significant foreign direct investments beyond its own financing. It offers debt and equity finance, guarantees, leasing facilities, trade finance, and professional development through support programs.
